Chất tạo bọt: Có tác dụng giúp các hoạt chất trong trong kem đánh răng lan ra toàn bộ cung hàm. Các chất tạo bọt thường được sử dụng như natri laureth phosphate, natri lauryl sulfat, natri dodecyl benzen sulfonat….

Chất giữ ẩm: Có tác dụng ngăn ngừa mất nước, giữ cho kem đánh răng không bị khô hoặc dính nướu trong suốt quá trình sử dụng. Một số chất giữ ẩm thường dùng là Polyols gồm glycerin, sorbitol và hydrogenated starch hydrolyzates.

Chất làm đặc: Thành phần này có tác dụng duy trì sự ổn định cho kem bột nhão, tăng độ nhớt, ngăn ngừa các chất mài mòn bị lắng đọng.

Chất làm thơm: mang lại cảm giác dễ chịu và thích thú khi đánh răng. Một số hương được yêu thích như hương bạc hà, hương dâu, hương cam chanh,...

Nước: đây là một phần không thể thiếu của kem đánh răng, là môi trường hòa tan, phân tán các hoạt chất có trong kem đánh răng.

Theo một tờ báo Bloomberg của Mỹ cho rằng trong kem đánh răng có chứa hoạt chất Triclosan, một chất có ảnh hưởng đến sự hoạt động hormone, có tiềm ẩn chất sinh ung thư và làm chậm sự phát triển thường được dùng để ngăn bệnh về nướu.
Vậy Triclosan là gì?
Triclosan là một chất kháng khuẩn giúp chống lại sự hình thành của vi khuẩn, nấm mốc, ngăn ngừa bệnh viêm nướu. Triclosan đóng vai trò diệt khuẩn trong các sản phẩm tiêu dùng như xà phòng, dầu gội, chất khử mùi, kem đánh răng, nước rửa chén.
Theo Bộ Y tế, Cục Quản lý Dược tại phụ lục VI (Annex VI) cho biết: Triclosan là chất được phép sử dụng trong các sản phẩm mỹ phẩm với vai trò là chất bảo quản với hàm lượng không vượt quá 0,3%, và có thể được sử dụng với mục đích khác liên quan đến tác dụng diệt khuẩn của chất này.
Vì vậy, kem đánh răng có chứa hàm lượng Triclosan không vượt quá 0,3% thành phần đều không gây ung thư ở người.
